Electrolysis of Wallingford

Head to Toe Permanent Hair Removal

Q. What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis involves inserting a sterile, hair-thin filament into the hair follicle down to the bulb. A small amount of energy is then released into the follicle to destroy the cells that cause hair growth. The regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently destroyed. Electrolysis is still the only 100% permanent hair removal method recognized by government regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Q. Why should I choose electrolysis over other hair removal methods?
A.If you want permanent hair removal, electrolysis is the only way to achieve this goal.

Q. Will it work on my skin type?
A. Unlike Laser electrolysis is successful on all skin and hair types.

Q.What is the difference between Laser and Electrolysis?
A. Electrolysis is 100% PERMANENT hair removal and Laser is not.  Electrolysis can treat any hair and skin type- including tattooed areas and dark skin. If you have dark skin, understand that the laser targets the melanin in your skin which can cause pigmentation problems. In some cases laser stimulates dormant hair follicles and creates hair growth in areas where none existed before. If you need to have a large area cleared quickly, laser can be temporary option. Please note that Laser IS NOT permanent and would need to be repeated because the hair will grow back.

Q. Can unwanted hair be removed from anywhere on the body?
A. Electrolysis can be applied to most all facial and body parts, including but not limited to: Forehead, Temples, Bridge of Nose, Eyebrows, Chin, Cheeks, Upper & Lower Lip, Jaw line & sides of the face, Neck, Chest, Breast & Underarms, Forearms, Hands, Knuckles, Abdomen, Bikini Area, Legs, Feet, Toes, etc...

Q. How do I prepare for my electrolysis treatment?
A. Drink plenty of water before your appointment. This will help keep skin moist and make epilation easier. Avoid caffeine as this will make you more sensitive.

Q. Can I tweeze or wax once I begin having Electrolysis treatments?
A. Electrolysis is systematically shrinking the blood supply to each hair follicle treated. Tweezing or waxing, forcibly rips the root from the papilla. The body believes it has been injured, and sends more blood to the area to heal it. Since blood is what nourishes and causes hair to grow, increasing the blood supply, will ultimately strengthen the hair. This will cause an increase in the amount of Electrolysis treatments you will need. Those who have been tweezing or waxing always take longer to complete than those who have shaved, clipped, used depilatories, or just left the area alone.

Q. If Electrolysis is permanent, why do I have to come back?
A. Not all of your hair is present at any one given time. Hair grows in cycles. We are only able to treat the follicles where the hairs are visible. Periodically, hair goes into a dormant stage, so we need to wait for it to grow before it can be treated.
